Rocking & (almost) Rolling

Lorelei is very close to rolling onto her belly! (Forgive the clashing outfit. We'd done a lot of vomiting and gone through several pieces of clothing that morning).

Nickname

People keep asking us if we plan to give Lorelei a nickname. The first time someone asked me if we were going to call her Rory, I looked at them like they were nuts and simply said, "no". Then they explained that it's from Gilmore Girls, which we've never seen, but still doesn't clear up why they call that character Rory instead of Lorelei. Unless, (now that I really think about it) it's from a child who could not yet pronounce their /l/ and it came out as /r/, therefore sounding like Rory instead of Lori? Anyway, the show is fictional, so who cares.

So nicknames: We do not plan to shorten Lorelei into a nickname, although she has acquired a few pet names like "Miss" because she is such a little lady, and also "Toad" or "Froggie" for the adorable bullfrog position she tends to favor. Love that belly and looooooong legs.

Progress

While Greta still refuses to kiss Lorelei, (which is definitely for the better given her rancid, horrible breath) I was sitting at the kitchen table and looked over to find this scene.

Greta has no problem snuggling up to me on the couch when I'm holding Lorelei, and sometimes will try to crawl in top of her as though she's invisible, but she's never willingly sat near her in my absence. I'm very excited that she appears to be warming up to our newest addition, but I'm also not convinced that she didn't see Lorelei as a nice warm body on a soft blanket when no other laps were available.

Go Cubs Go

On Sunday, we spent the morning with Mark, Lauren, and Clarke before heading to Lorelei's first Cubs game. Clarke is starting to really look at and grasp for toys, and is starting to roll! He's so cute and I'm seriously jealous of his long, dark eyelashes! Lorelei also got to meet Orangey and Lindsey and congratulate them on their engagement!

The game was supposed to start at 1:20, but there were several rain delays which worked out great because it gave us more time to spend with the Jacksons and (future) Mr. And Mrs. DeLisle.

We finally parked, bundled up, and headed to the field with Lorelei in the Ergo. We parked in our old neighborhood, mostly because we knew we didn't need a parking pass, and made the mile+ walk to the field. She fell asleep immediately and slept for most of the game. We stayed for a few innings but when it started to look like rain again, we chickened out and headed for home since we had that long walk back to the car and an hour drive home.

This game was a much different experience than the games we were used to: riding our bikes to and from the field, enjoying a few (several?) Old Style Lights, meeting up with friends on the way home. It was fun to reminisce about our old city life and drive through our old neighborhood.

I'm still hoping we can make it to a sunny game this summer; this one didn't quite feel like a true Cubs game, and Lorelei didn't get to show off her cute Cubs outfit courtesy of Chris and Marilyn. At least we knew she was supporting her team even though she was all snugged up in the carrier. :-)

Love Bug

Silly girl!

Lorelei is making all kinds of adorable faces and becoming quite the flirt! We visited my students last week and they really seemed to enjoy seeing her. She even hammed it up a bit playing peek-a-boo!

No giggles yet, but they seem close, and she cracks herself up when she's sleeping. She is starting to coo and just looks like she has so much to say but can't quite get it out. Here are a few of her new expressions:
